Not so Missed Connection - Broad Street Cafe.

We met at the Broad Street cafe. Shared coffee and philosophical conversation on the Self-Knoweldge Symposium. Talked about Kathryn Tanner’s work describing the church as those in dialogue, not those in agreement. You read from 19th century novels for your English paper while we talked about Don Miller’s opus. Your foot swung from the bar stool in time to Ani DiFranco’s 32 Flavors and we shared a laugh about the odd and somewhat depressing nature of the Church. E-mail me.

She came back to the table for 4 more hours of conversation. Everything from Kierkegaard’s “Fear and Trembling and the Sickness Unto Death (Princeton Paperbacks)” (Soren Kierkegaard) to music and food. She understands the Gnostic heresy. The Cafe closed, we moved to the Brian center. I’ve never been so embarrassed by the messiness of my car. We talked until the Brian center closed and we had to go our separate ways. There was a refreshing honesty and depth to our conversation. We decided together that our meeting was a bit of a divine conspiracy. Our normal work spots were all closed due to the Chapel’s performance of Messiah. It was either a fluke or a divine conspiracy that led us both to the Broad Street Cafe last night.
