I'm going to try to read your blog as often as possible and honor this request, Kevin. If you get sick of me, ask me once, and I'll stop.

I'd give an "A" for clarity of thought, but a "C" for punctuation. And even though I might have just used unnecessary quotes myself (can anyone confirm or deny when talking about letter grades?), I am very much on Grete's side. Quotes which are used for "emphasis" or "colloquial usages" are "distracting."

I disagree. I hate scare quotes. They're so quaint.

Don't use quotes unless you're quoting someone.

Have your graders consistently noted something or other, or does each paper bring its own problems?

I suppose I'd give this post a C for lack of supporting details! ;)
